Darien Rowayton Bank is showcasing

the artwork of local artist

August 2010

Darien Rowayton Bank is currently showcasing the fine artwork of Mary Morant, a local Darien resident throughout the month of August. Morant’s work reflects the Old Master style and colors. Recognizing that realism needs to push the eclectic, Morant also embraces the plein-air painting and the French Impressionist style with its play on color and light. The Bank invites the public to view her artwork at their location at 1001 Post Road in Darien.

While growing up, Morant’s family highly valued art and she and her siblings were encouraged by her mother, a prominent Atlanta artist, to draw at an early age. Morant graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design. Her first job out of college was designing logos in Aspen, Colo. She then spent 10 years working as an art director for Lord, Geller, Federico, Einstein Agency in New York while pursuing her painting at night at the Art Student's League.

In 1990, she moved to Darien, CT with her family and then to Paris in 1996 to continue her studies of painting at The Louvre Museum. Since her return to Darien in 2001, Morant continues to paint locally in her studio with The Holly Pond Painters in Darien and won “Best in Show” this year at the 52nd Annual Darien Arts Council Show.

For additional information about her artwork, please contact Jack Dowling at Darien Rowayton Bank, 203-669-4104 or jdowling@drbankonline.com.
